Mobile Interventions for Medication Adherence

Medication adherence is one of the most important factors in achieving positive health outcomes, and new mobile technologies could prove to be important tools in improving medication adherence among patients.

Dr. Park is currently engaged in a number of research studies that aim to determine which types of mobile communications are most effective in improving medication adherence. One such study aims to recruit patients into focus groups to determine their attitudes towards the use of various mobile technologies in their healthcare, including new mobile applications. She is also working with patients who are participating in cardiac rehabilitation programs to compare how patients who are post myocardial infarction (MI) / percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) to determine if patients will have better medication adherence with text messaging compared to a mobile application.

Her primary interests are whether factors like ease of use, familiarity with a particular mobile technology, and greater social connection are related to medication adherence.
